1. Begin the Very Hungry Caterpillar outline by drawing an irregular half-circle. This will become the caterpillar's head.
Then, draw two irregular round shapes to form the eyes. Inside one of them, draw another irregular shape parallel to the outline.

2. Draw a round shape parallel to the remaining eye. Then, draw a rounded triangle beneath them to indicate the caterpillar's nose.
From the top of the head, extend a long curved line and double it back on itself to enclose a narrow teardrop shape. This is the caterpillar's antenna.

3. Extend another curved line and double it back to enclose a teardrop shape, forming the remaining antennal.
Then, enclose a shape like a flattened oval beside the head. Next to it enclose another shape and then a teardrop shape. These are the segments of the caterpillar's body.
