Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Shark Outline

How to Draw a Great Looking Shark Outline for Kids and Beginners - Step 1

1. Begin the shark outline by drawing the animal’s snout. Use a long curved line, doubled back on itself, to draw the rounded rectangular snout.
Draw an oval in the middle of it, with another oval inside it. Shade between them. This is the shark’s eye.
Drawing Step 2

2. Continue the top of the snout to form the shark’s back. Extend a curved line from the bottom of the snout, at a sharp angle, to form the lower jaw and belly.

3. Draw a short curved line on the snout to form a nostril. Extend a curved line from the shark’s back to form the fin. Double it back on itself at a sharp angle, giving it a triangular shape.
Drawing Step 4

4. Draw the shark’s pectoral fin, extending the line from inside the outline and doubling it back on itself. Extend a curved line from the back side of the fin to form the tail.
Drawing Step 5

5. Draw the tail fin. Extend long and curved lines from the top and bottom of the tail. Connect them with two more curved lines that meet in the middle.
Drawing Step 6

6. Draw a large triangular pectoral fin under the shark’s head, and two smaller triangular fins, one above and one below the tail.
Drawing Step 7

7. Draw one more small triangular fin on the shark’s tail. Then draw sharp, triangular teeth inside its mouth.

Compare this easy fish drawing to the shark, for instance. Its body may have a different shape, but what similarities do you see? It has fins on its back, sides, and tail like the shark does, and both have slits called gills.
