A beginner-friendly guide to learning how to draw a great-looking Anime Girl Body with easy, step by step drawing instructions and video tutorial. Great for beginner artists!
When you look at an anime character, how can you tell their gender? What about their age? We derive a lot of this information from this body proportions drawing.
Whereas male (male anatomy drawing) and juvenile anime (anime boy full body drawing) characters often have an inverted triangle shape (wider at the shoulders than at the hip), female characters are shaped differently.
The widest point of the girl's body base is the hips. The chest is the second-widest, and the waist is narrow. The female body is generally shorter in height than her male counterparts, but taller than any children.
There are exceptions to this anime body template, however. Some characters presented as "sexy" might have exaggerated, unrealistic proportions. (Check out this Sexy Anime Drawing)
There is a lot to consider when drawing an anime girl full-body, but don't worry! We're here to help you improve skills with this easy, step-by-step female anime base for beginners.

Anime Girl Body drawing - Step 1
1. Begin the anime girl outline by creating a grid. Draw two vertical lines and seven horizontal lines. The lines should be spaced so that they create six complete squares and six incomplete squares of equal sizes.

2. Begin to sketch the basic shapes of the girl body within the grid. In the first row, center a circle over the vertical line to form the head. It should take up about 3/4 of the space between the horizontal lines.
In the next row, draw two more horizontal lines equally spaced between the original lines. In the next row, draw horizontal lines at the halfway and 1/4 points. Then, draw a rounded teardrop shape from the top of the second row to the first new line in the third row. Enclose a rounded shape within it centered over the grid, between the nearest new lines. This will form the girl's torso.
Indicate the placement of the shoulders by drawing two small circles, one on each side of the torso, resting on the first of the new horizontal lines.
Finally, draw two round shapes in the third row, below the halfway-point line, to form the hips. Extend curved lines toward the horizontal guideline, then lines at another angle through the next row. Conclude these in the fourth row with two partial circles. These will become the legs and knees.

3. Continue the body sketch by connecting the "parts" using curved lines. Add detail, such as the ears, collar bones, and upper arms.
Then, draw two short lines outside of the hips, and two more in the bottom row. These place the wrists and ankles.

5. Enclose the full-body outline by drawing the hands and feet. Use short lines to contour the elbows, knees, and abdominal muscles. Use two "U" shaped lines to draw the breasts, and a few curved lines to outline her underwear.
