Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Labrador
How to Draw a Great Looking Labrador for Kids and Beginners - Step 1
1. Begin by drawing the dog's eyes. Use curved lines to outline the rounded square shape of the eyes, similar to anime eyes.
Shade a large circle within each to indicate the pupil. Then, draw curved lines above the eyes to indicate the lids and brow. Note the tuft of fur on the inner side of the brow.

2. Draw the puppy's nose and mouth. Use curved lines to enclose the nose; notice that it is slightly pointed on each side. Draw two small circles within the nose to indicate the nostrils.
Draw a wide "W" shaped line below the nose to form the mouth. Finally, draw curved lines on each side of the nose and at the corners of the mouth.

3. Enclose the tongue using a large "U" shaped line, and texture the center with a curved line. Enclose the open mouth with curved lines on each side of the tongue. Draw a line below it as well.
Then, use overlapping curved lines to sketch the ear and top of the head.

4. Complete the ear with a curved line that doubles back upon itself, overlapping the existing ear. Then, use another line to draw the side of the head.
Create a near-mirror image on the opposite side using curved lines.

5. Draw curved lines overlapping each side of the head to create the neck. Draw another set of overlapping curved lines to form the shoulders.
On one side, draw one more overlapping curved line to outline the chest and belly. Add a series of short curved lines in a "V" shape to texture the fur of the chest.

6. Use long curved lines to outline the lab's legs. Notice how the lines overlap at the feet to form the toes.

The Labrador retriever is a friendly, energetic, and outgoing dog from the sporting group. They are medium to large dogs, weighing up to 80 pounds.
Their average lifespan is 10 to 12 years. They are known as family dogs and are usually well suited to households with children and other dogs.
Called "labs" for short, the breed was first recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1903. They originated in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, as working dogs.

They were companions to fishermen and retrieved wayward fish of the catch or downed ducks for hunters. English nobles noticed and popularized the breed during the 1800s.
Today, labs are the most popular dog breed in America. They are similar to golden retrievers but have shorter hair.
Sometimes, they are crossed with other dog breeds to create "designer dogs." For example, a cross between a lab and a poodle is called a labradoodle.
